From Visvim's Fall/Winter 2015 Collection comes the Black Elk Flannel in Indigo. The Black Elk is a long sleeve button up flannel shirt that has a regular fit with two chest pockets and adjustable cuffs.
The shirt was constructed using a brushed flannel fabric woven with natural indigo-dyed Gara-Bou spun yarns. “Gara-Bou” is a traditional Japanese yarn-spinning machine invented in 1876, designed to mimic hand-spinning techniques. It operates at only one percent the efficiency of modern machines, originally powered by waterwheels, and produces slubby, nonuniform yarn with a distinct warmth. Skilled artisans must carefully adjust balance weights to control yarn thickness, making the process highly labor-intensive and time-consuming. Due to the rise of modern spinning machines, only one “Gara-Bou” spinning house remains in operation, preserving this rare and uniquely textured yarn.
Additional details include original bamboo buttons, woven collar tab detail, and cuff lining made from a block printed cotton-linen fabric.
