From Visvim's Fall/Winter 2017 Collection comes the Sanjuro Jacket in Brown. Taking inspiration from Japanese and US military culture, the Sanjuro jacket has an oversized fit with a kimono collar, two patch hand pockets, and adjustable cuffs.
The jacket is made from a custom wool/linen military twill developed in collaboration with NIKKE, one of Japan’s oldest textile mills founded in 1896, known for its vertically integrated production—developing from the yarn up. Inspired by a heavily worn Japanese military jacket from Hiroki Nakamura’s archive, the fabric was designed to capture the original’s dry texture and rugged character. To achieve this, NIKKE’s Masahiro Ohno created a marbled grandrelle yarn using slightly varied colors. The warp yarn blended three different fibers, including British wool and linen, twisted to create uneven thickness and depth. For the weft, two yarns were twisted together to replicate the archive’s directional flow. The fabric was intentionally left in its raw, unfinished state to preserve its natural tension, dry withered texture, and vintage look.
Additional details include original bamboo buttons, cotton lining, hand stitched embroidery along the hem, and a hand stitched neck detail made from custom woven wool/linen/silk check fabric.
