From Visvim’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection comes the Sanjuro Coat in Dk. Indigo. The Sanjuro coat is inspired by the traditional Japanese Kimono featuring a slim cut, drop shoulders, an elongated body, and kimono collar.
The coat is constructed using 3 panels of cotton of various indigo hues. The panels are dyed by hand using an old Japanese technique called kasezome, or skein-dyeing. Artisans wrap yarns into a loose coil called a kase, or skein, which is dipped into a container full of synthetically produced indigo dye. This method preserves the original texture of the yarn while still deeply coloring each yarn to its core. This hand-dyeing technique is extremely time and effort intensive, however it results in richly colored fabrics that replicate the unique unevenness and charm found in natural indigo dyed products.
Additional details include brown wool trim on the collar, cuffs, and hem.
