From Visvim's Spring/Summer 2020 Indigo Camping Trailer Collection comes the Skagway Lo Canvas in Dark Mud. The Skagway Lo is a two-top court sneaker with a lace-up closure, canvas uppers, leather toe cap, and a vulcanized rubber outsole.
The shoe is constructed using original Japanese high twist cotton canvas uppers, vulcanized midsoles, and custom branded rubber outsoles. Once constructed, the shoes were mud-dyed at Amami Ōshima Island. The dyeing technique is 1300 year old Japanese method called dorozome. The process consists of Boiling a flowering plant, known in Japan as sharinbai, in a large vat for two days in order to create a liquid extract. The shirt is then dipped repeatedly in this extract, and afterwards immersed in mud. This causes a chemical reaction between the acid pigment in the sharinbai extract and the iron in the mud, which gives birth to a deep, uniquely lustrous black dye.
Additional details include pigment free cow leather lining and insoles, original midsole taping, embroidered heel tabs, and a vintage Japanese Kofu tongue tab.
