From Visvim's Spring/Summer 2024 Collection comes the Copa Shirt in Black. The Copa is an open-collared boxy short-sleeve button up shirt with a drop shoulder and one chest pocket.
The shirt was constructed using a custom Tango Chirimen silk fabric. Tango Chirimen is a traditional Japanese silk crepe made in the Tango region of Kyoto, characterized by a crimped texture created by weaving untwisted warp threads with tightly twisted weft threads. This unique texture, known as shibo, gives the silk its soft feel, springiness, and wrinkle resistance, and has been prized for centuries in kimono and furoshiki production. Once constructed, the shirt was individually hand-dyed by Banba Dyeing using a meticulous stencil-printing method called te-nassen, with each color applied by hand. The entire process, from twisting the silk thread to dyeing the fabric, requires deep craftsmanship passed down through generations.
Additional details include a press finish, original bamboo buttons, and an indigo dyed fabric hem tab.
